PEP (Personal Empowerment Project), is a brand-new signature NYJL project that is actively seeking volunteers. PEP will focus on career mentoring for high school freshman and sophomore girls. The committee’s goal is to introduce 10 to 20 girls (“the Mentees”) to several career options and help them to understand the educational experience required to pursue each career by completing modules.

PEP’s core message to the Mentees is to stay in school, and a major objective of the committee is to demonstrate the value of higher education. PEP will partner with Supportive Children’s Advocacy Network (SCAN). Volunteers will be involved in the planning and attendance of a full-day conference in the late fall. The committee will meet on two Thursdays of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Headquarters. To join PEP, contact the Placement committee at placement@nyjl.org.
