Festive Cocktails with Mixologist Julia Rickert • $25.50  Purchase Tickets

Cheers! Mixologist Julia Rickert is back to help us whip up some favorite holiday cocktails including a Spiced Bourbon Cider and a Sugar Plum Old Fashioned. We’ll also be discussing how to craft these drinks for a slightly larger crowd. 

Suggested Ingredients

Starter Drink (optional):

SEASONAL SPRITZ:

– Sloe Gin
– Select Aperitivo (can substitute Aperol)
– Prosecco/sparkling wine
– Club soda
– Garnish: rosemary sprig & gin-brandied cherry (can use brandied cherry or maraschino cherry)

Cocktail 1A:

SUGAR PLUM FASHIONED:

– Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum (can sub another dark rum)
– Homemade plum syrup* (Can substitute cranberry or another favorite fruit syrup. Can also purchase store-bought simple syrup.)
– Angostura Bitters
– Garnish: lemon twist

Cocktail 1B:

MERRY & BRIGHT:
Top Sugar Plum Fashioned with ginger beer & garnish with lime wheel.

*Plum Simple Syrup
Make and let sit for at least 1 hour prior to class if you’d like to use  

– 4 plums, sliced
– 1 cup sugar
– Optional: 1 tbsp balsamic and/or lemon juice

  1. Boil 1 cup water in small saucepan.
  2. Add 4 plums, sliced.
  3. Stir in 1 cup sugar and stew until plums soft.
  4. Add water if needed (depending on plum ripeness).
  5. Remove from heat and let sit 1 hour. Strain and chill.
  6. Optional: add 1 tbsp balsamic and/or lemon juice.

Cocktail 2:

SPICED BOURBON CIDER: (can serve warm or chilled)

– Bourbon (recommend Woodford Reserve)
– Homemade spiced syrup*
– Fresh lemon juice
– Apple cider (can buy spiced apple cider and skip the homemade syrup)

*Spiced Simple Syrup:
Make and let sit for at least 1 hour prior to class if you’d like to use  

– 1 cup sugar
– 2 tbsp crushed whole cloves
– 3 inch piece fresh ginger
– 1 stick cinnamon

  1. Boil 1 cup water in small saucepan.
  2. Remove from heat
  3. Stir in sugar and spices
  4. Let sit 1 hour. Strain and chill.
