Elizabeth King, 2025 Outstanding Sustainer
Even with her “full plate” in the food business, Outstanding Sustainer Elizabeth King said her love of New York City and strong sense of duty to her community fuel her tireless passion for service.
For 25 years, King has served on the board of directors of Little Sisters of the Assumption Family Health Service providing care for vulnerable families in East Harlem. She’s also held leadership roles with the Irish Georgian Society and her alma mater, Skidmore College.
Hospitality has long been King’s specialty. She’s proprietor and executive chef of Kings’ Carriage House on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and proprietor of The Linen Shop in Connecticut. A New York Junior League member for more than 30 years, King led production of the I’ll Taste Manhattan cookbook as an active member, and worked to enhance the membership experience through events and food service. She currently serves on the Sustainer Day committee and Thanksgiving Eve Ball committee.
“It has been tremendously rewarding for me to be part of creating hospitality at the NYJL,” said King, an Outstanding Volunteer in 2009. “My personal satisfaction comes from witnessing the enjoyment of members, feeling the sense of shared trusteeship of the building and positively impacting the bottom line.”
