NYJL hosts dinner & game night for cancer patients at Hope Lodge

On April 11, the NYJL Cancer Awareness and Support (CAS) and Senior Friends committees partnered to host a dinner and game night for cancer patients and their families at Hope Lodge. NYJL CAS volunteers partner with other community organizations at least once a month and the Hope Lodge partnership in particular was a chance for NYJL volunteers from not only the CAS committee, but also the Senior Friends committee to explore new ideas and ways to help cancer patients. NYJL volunteers on the Senior Friends committee typically work with seniors at the New Jewish Home.

The NYJL coordinated the buffet dinner and then organized a game called “Name That Italian” that all attendees could take part in. Everyone had quite a hoot as their friends and family shouted out clues and they had 30 seconds to guess the famous Italian—ranging from Joe DiMaggio to Robert De Niro to Leonardo Da Vinci—on their respective note cards.
