A Midwinter Night’s Dream for the New York Junior League’s newest volunteers

January 1, 1970

On this chilly evening, hundreds gathered at the Winter Ball to support the NYJL and toast our Outstanding Volunteers and Outstanding Sustainers. This cozy evening featured delicious desserts, live music, and dancing, as well as a silent auction with prizes ranging from athletic jerseys (namely, a Steph Curry jersey!) to dining experiences to fun weekend getaways.

Newly active volunteers from the Fall Provisional Group 9 were excited to join the fun. Group 9 was part of the Provisional class that graduated in January, making this year’s Winter Ball the group’s first. Chelsea Parrott, now an Active volunteer on the Specialty Events committee, shared her experience of the event: “Winter Ball was spectacular! As a recent Provisional graduate, Winter Ball provided the perfect culmination to the end of our provisional training semester. I loved celebrating with my close friends while meeting other volunteers! It was an all-around wonderful experience supporting our organization.”
