Working with Children: How to Help Build Self-Esteem and Foster Healthy Communication

On October 28, we welcome Jean Kunhardt, co-director of Soho Parenting, who will train volunteers on tactical ways we can better serve the children we work with and how to address conflicts in communication.

Many NYJL committees work with children and it’s not uncommon for these children to have unique personalities which may present challenging situations. Jean Kunhardt will offer realistic techniques to help open the lines of communication and practical strategies to build confidence and self-acceptance.

She will offer tips and techniques:

  • To foster healthy communication
  • To build confidence in kids
  • To teach self-acceptance

Jean Kunhardt has her graduate degrees in Early Childhood and Special Education from Bank Street College. She has continued her education in EMDR, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, and as a couples counselor at the Relational Life Institute. Jean combines her training and knowledge with her pragmatic and supportive style to provide invaluable guidance and support. She and her sister, Sandra, co-author of A Mother’s Circle, are the granddaughters of Dorothy Kunhardt, the author of the beloved children’s book, Pat the Bunny.
