The Single Parent Resource Center Honors New York Junior League

New York, NY—October 12, 2015—The New York Junior League has been selected by The Single Parent Resource Center to be honored at their Fall Fete on October 21, 2015. The event will be held at the Museum of the City of New York.

The Single Parent Resource Center, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping New York City’s single parent families survive and thrive, has had a close partnership with the New York Junior League for many years. Volunteers from the NYJL’s Cooking and Health Education for Families (C.H.E.F.) committee have provided single parents comprehensive workshops that include education about healthy snacks, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts to prepare on-the-go. The NYJL’s C.H.E.F. committee empowers families to make life-long healthy choices by teaching proper nutrition and physical activity while placing an emphasis on planning, collaboration and fun. NYJL Volunteers have also participated in holiday events to help children decorate cookies and create gifts for their parents. In addition, NYJL volunteers have partnered with The Single Parent Resource Center to help with logistics on several major fundraising events to ensure success.

According to The Single Parent Resource Center Executive Director Rosemarie Dackerman, “We are so thrilled to have this opportunity to celebrate our close partnership with the NYJL. The NYJL volunteers provide valuable knowledge and resources to us as an organization and to our single parents. They have been instrumental in educating our single parents on how to best care for their families and we look forward to our partnership for years to come.”

NYJL President Stacey Lawrence Lee commented, “The NYJL is touched to be honored by such a caring and needed organization. The Single Parent Resource Center provides critical services to single parents in need and we are thrilled that our partnership furthers their mission.”
