NYJL delights seniors at the Stanley Isaacs Center’s Sunday Supper
Each month, New York Junior League Done In A Day On Demand (DIAD-OD) volunteers provide support to the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center via the Center’s Sunday Supper program. This vital monthly program provides Isaacs Center seniors with fun, food, and a festive atmosphere on a Sunday night when seniors may otherwise be home alone. Seniors attend in groups and wear their Sunday best to these events. In fact, many Isaacs Center seniors line up for the event an hour early, waiting with anticipation while NYJL volunteers work on set-up tasks.
On March 12, 2017, NYJL volunteers jumped into action to assist with a St. Patrick’s Day Sunday Supper feast of corned beef and cabbage, an Irish blessing, and a raffle. Twenty NYJL “leprechauns” decorated tables, stuffed gift bags, prepared salads, served food and drinks, and worked in the kitchen to make this exciting event a reality. DIAD-OD Committee Co-Chairs Nicole Geraci and Nicole Hudak coordinated volunteers and provided day-of event management. The Co-Chairs agree that, “There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a smile on each senior’s face at the end of a Sunday Supper event.”
These Sunday Suppers are flagship events for the DIAD-OD committee. Please see future Friday Flash announcements seeking volunteers for these events and join us for one of them!
