Success on Shop & Stroll Madison Avenue

The NYJL Specialty Events Committee recent hosted the 3rd Annual Shop & Stroll Madison Avenue event, on what turned out to be a gorgeous, sunny Saturday in New York. As in previous years, the NYJL partnered with many Madison Avenue retailers to offer an amazing shopping experience with a portion of proceeds benefiting the NYJL. Each store had exquisite hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, exclusive shopping discounts and in some stores, special gift items with purchases.

The morning began at the Astor House with a toast at the mimosa bar, breakfast bites, and a Uwila Warrior pop-up shop who gave a generous donation to this year’s Shop & Stroll event. Thank you Uwila Warrior for your continued support!

Each year, the NYJL holds a variety of events such as Shop & Stroll Madison Avenue to generate the vital dollars necessary to support our charitable activities. The success of these events, along with generous donations from individuals and businesses, helps us achieve our mission to improve the lives of women and children in New York City. We hope to see you at an upcoming fundraiser to learn more and to support the work we do in New York City.

Thank you again to everyone who supported this year’s Shop & Stroll. It was a beautiful day that brought people together to support the NYJL and all its community efforts – we’re already looking forward to next year’s event!

Savoring an Epicurean Evening

The third-annual Savor the Spring was once again an evening filled with culinary delights. Proceeds raised benefited the NYJL’s charitable activities, including signature projects such as Cooking & Health Education for Families (C.H.E.F.), which works with underserved families across New York City to cook healthy, affordable meals. Below is just a small sampling of the evening’s delectable offerings from some of New York’s best chefs and mixologists.

  • Fat Monk with delicious gastropub treats

  • Liquid Lab demonstrating their take on modern mixology

Making Sense of the Dollars and Cents

The NYJL Engagement Events committee hosted the final Thirsty Thursday of the year in May to raise money for the NYJL Annual Fund.  Members were invited to celebrate the end of the volunteer year with fellow members with the purchase of a $30 ticket, $20 of which counted as an Annual Fund donation.

The NYJL Annual Fund helps support our community endeavors and its leadership training programs as well as the upkeep of our Headquarters. It is a way to make the most immediate impact in support of the NYJL and to help ensure that we sustain our mission for years to come.

Every May, the Engagement Events encourages members to donate to this worthy cause by hosting the themed-social event.  Over 100 guests enjoyed Mexican-inspired bites to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and tested their luck at a raffle with prizes such as tickets to the upcoming Astor House End of the Year Party,  Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day 2018 and a One-Week Car Pass to the 2018 Hampton Classic.

The NYJL Engagement Events committee wishes everyone a happy and safe summer, and hopes to see you at Thirsty Thursday events this fall.  See below for more information on the Annual Fund!
