Meet Team NYJL! – Part 2
On Sunday, November 6, a group of 12 NYJL volunteers and friends will run the TCS New York City Marathon in support of the New York Junior League! These men and women have committed to training for the 26.2-mile journey while raising funds to support the NYJL. Team NYJL has a collective fundraising goal of $59,000 – all of which will support the charitable activities of the NYJL. During the next few weeks, we will be showcasing these incredible women and sharing a little bit more about each of them.

Christine will be running in her 4th NYC Marathon and it will be her second time being a part of Team NYJL. She continues to run marathons since running takes her to a place of “reflecting on how to achieve her dreams and pushing limits of where no ordinary person goes.” She is excited to run for the NYJL as she loves what the NYJL has to offer- promoting volunteerism, improving communities and training volunteers to be leaders.
Active, Spotlight on Performance
Since moving to NYC in 2011, Lynn has watched the NYC marathon every year. Prior to starting her training for the marathon, Lynn did not run that often. As her training goes on she is finding more and more benefits from running including being able to explore different parts of NYC and taking on a day with a positive attitude after getting in a morning run. When she heard Team NYJL had an open spot she knew this was her opportunity to finally run the marathon.
Running in her first marathon, Lillian joined Team NYJL because she loves to run, she loves the NYJL and she loves a challenge. When she is not training, Lillian enjoys trying new workout classes, spending time with her family on the beach, reading and traveling.

This is Kelsey’s first year running a marathon. In her training, she loves trying different paths around NYC since the city changes so rapidly so it is nice to have a ritual like running to notice the changes. Kelsey is running for Team NYJL because she believes the tradition of caring about the community at large is wonderful and in more need today than ever.
