APP supports Equal Pay Day rally

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, the Advocates for Public Policy Committee (APP), will join the PowHer New York Network, Public Advocate Letitia James, NYC Council Members Laurie Cumbo and Helen Rosenthal, and NYC Women’s March on the steps of City Hall for Equal Pay Day.

This year, the NYJL and APP are focusing our efforts on advocating on behalf of “Close the Gap” legislation currently up for consideration in New York State’s Legislature. Senate Bill S5233, sponsored by Senator Carlucci and Assembly Bill A6707, sponsored by Assemblywoman Galef, will among other things, prevent employers from asking salary info in interviews, a contributor to gender and other-based pay gaps.
