CHAMP Provides “Go Kits” to Health Advocates for Older People

champ provides go kits to health advocates for older people

The NYJL CHAMP committee has created “Go Kits” to distribute to participants of its partner, Health Advocates for Older People (“HAFOP”). During weekly Saturday morning workshop presentations, CHAMP volunteers lead and facilitate discussions on health and wellness throughout the volunteer year.

CHAMP developed these new “Go Kits” as a way to provide HAFOP participants with resources that encourage and facilitate participants in applying CHAMP health and wellness suggestions and recommendations. The New York Junior League has a long-standing relationship with HAFOP and the committee is excited to roll out this program in celebration of that relationship.

For the initial roll out, CHAMP is compiling over 20 kits with plans to distribute them during a mid-May HAFOP session. CHAMP members chose items for the kits based on health and wellness workshops the committee presents, and the related items to be distributed include the following: KIND Bars for nutrition and healthy food choices, ear plugs for age-related hearing problems, sunscreen for skin care, Purell for infection prevention, and resistance bands for fitness and bone weakness. To hold these items, the CHAMP committee also commissioned custom New York Junior League tote bags that participants can keep and reuse as they see fit.

CHAMP is thrilled to be moving forward with this effort and looks forward to delivering the “Go Kits” to Health Advocates soon!
