Arts & Careers Day with NYJL Project Muse committee

On April 25, 2017, New York Junior League volunteers on the Project Muse committee hosted an “Arts and Careers” day for third grade students at PS 64. Local presenters included a photojournalist turned fashion app entrepreneur, Brooke Mooreland, graphic designer, Vico Zabel, art consultant, Laura Mackall (a NYJL volunteer), and Broadway costume dresser, Teale Dvornick (a NYJL and Project Muse volunteer).

Each speaker shared how art inspired him or her to choose their career and how learning about art, both old and new, influences their work. Students were enamored by the range of opportunities to use art in a job and enthusiastically asked presenters questions, including: “Where did you go to college?” What do you like most about your job?” and “Do you get to meet famous people?” Project Muse provides interactive art education classes as a means to increase students’ awareness of art and culture. Thank you to all who made the career day such a success!
