NYJL Application for Membership
Dear Prospective NYJL Volunteer:
The New Membership Committee is delighted that you are interested in becoming a volunteer with the Junior League of the City of New York, Inc. (NYJL), and we look forward to assisting you in the application process.
Before applying for membership, please give careful thought to the requirements for becoming a NYJL volunteer. The criteria for membership are:
Commitment to a provisional training program
Commitment to fulfilling membership requirements as listed below
Commitment to fulfilling financial obligations as listed below
Please complete your application online. The online application asks for basic biographical information (name, address, contact data), has two short answer questions, and space to upload two letters of recommendation. The letters of recommendation must be in .pdf or .jpg format and uploaded to your application or provided via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, you may also mail your letters of recommendations or have your recommender mail them directly. Alternatively, you may also mail letters to:

In order to submit your application, you will also need to pay the $100 application fee securely online. Please Note: You will need to complete the application in full, as you will not be able to save and return at a later date to complete and submit. (Hint: bookmark this page to come back later to fill out your application, as you will not be able to find this page searching our website.)
You will be notified by e-mail that your application has been received. Please check your spam folder for this confirmation if you do not receive one to your inbox.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Please be aware that there are a limited number of spaces in each Provisional Training Course. Each course is filled on a first come, first serve basis. Applications are accepted until all available spaces in the Provisional Training Course are filled.
Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by email. A few weeks after the deadline those who have been accepted will receive an email with instructions to sign up for the next session of provisional courses.

Provisional Membership Requirements
- Complete the Provisional Training Course
- Fulfill your financial obligations
- Application Fee (non-refundable) $100
- Provisional Training Course Fee (non-refundable) $150
- Dues (Yearly $525; Prorated for Spring Start $284)
Active Membership Requirements
- Participate on an NYJL committee by attending 75 percent of the meetings scheduled.
- Complete two membership credits during the NYJL fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
- Fulfill your financial obligations.
