Annual Fund raises over $149,000 to support NYJL’s mission

The NYJL Annual Fund helps support the NYJL’s community work, its leadership training programs, and the upkeep of the landmark Astor House. For the 2016–2017 volunteer year, the Annual Fund raised over $149,000 to help support our mission.

One way these contributions helped support the community work we do in NYC was through the 2nd Annual Personal Empowerment Project (PEP) Career Day. This day-long event welcomed to the Astor House 80 at-risk school-age girls served by the PEP and Lead Inspire Focus and Thrive (LIFT) committees to learn about different careers paths and life skills.

The girls started off the day with an opportunity to design their own business cards, then enjoyed two panels hosted by Ines Rosales, traffic anchor for Good Day NY. The girls had an opportunity to learn about each of the panelists’ backgrounds, educational experiences, and reasons for choosing their career paths. At the end of the day, each child took home a backpack filled with school essentials and healthy snacks.

While we celebrate the achievements of the 2016–2017 fundraising year, our work is not done! This year, our goal is to raise $150,000 to help support our mission. If you’d like to lead the charge for this year’s Annual Fund, you can do so now.
